Emissions on LSX conversions in CA or NJ?

Emissions on LSX conversions in CA or NJ? I've got a 68 vette with an 02 FI LQ engine, no cats though. I'm looking at relocation for my job in NJ, NY, MA, or CA.
Here in MO, I've got "Historic Plates" which exempt me from ANY type of inspection, emission, safety, visual, etc.
I understand in some states, the OEM emmisions equipment is required (visual inspection). I'm betting my fuel injected engine is cleaner than any 68 motor with EGR and air pump.
How do you handle this in those states with strict standards?

As someone else wrote, 1975 and earlier vehicles are exempt from the smog inspection. Also,the only time a vehicle is required to have a brake and lamp inspection is when a salvage vehicle is being rebuilt and reregistered. You should be ok.

You won't be if the motor is newer than 75 though. You are basically smogging the motor, not the car. This is only if you get caught though. My friend with a 72 510 just got in trouble last year because he had a 95 240sx motor (ka24de) motor in it. Cop pulled him over for exhaust and made him pop his hood and said he didn't have the proper smog equipment like evap and charcoal canister. He ended up selling it because he didn't feel like dealing with the bullshit anymore.
