Question for all PA auto mechanics?
A buddy of mine lives in VA and he is thinking about moving to PA. Right now he is a state emission insp. and was wondering what it takes to do emissions in PA. Any help would be appreciated.

Getting certified to be an emissions inspector isn't hard. I think it is a 16 hour class and is really straight forward and he will need to get recertified every 2 years. He will also need to get certified to do safety inspections also I think that is something like a 16 hour class also.
I know the local Vocational school has classes for safety emission license every month or so

You have to go to the state inspection school and pass the test. i took mine a a vo tech school. depends on where they have the class and they dont have it all the time so you will have to find out where and when. the test is not that hard. But where i live in pa we dont have emissions.

Tell your friend when he gets up here to call the ATC Warminster campus and get signed up for the EEIC course. Its a 4 night course all in one week. ITs also 260 bucks if he's certified in VA it'll prolly be a cake walk for him just make sure he pays attention. On the last night you take the written test and the computer based test.
Bucks County community college might have it also. I just know there's an ATC campus in your area so it came to mind first. I could've saved 10 bucks going to Delco but didn't want to deal with the traffic and ATC's was sooner
I just went through this all over again this past summer since I moved back from Maryland. Hope this helps out plenty and let me know if you have anymore questions

Every two years you got to re-new your emissions lisence.(WASTE OF TIME/MONEY, but youhave no choice, you gotta pay or your license expires) for The state you just have to check yes on a card.
