I have an 05 V...is there a way to find out if I have the upgraded 06 axles?

The 2004-2005 axles are both 1.25 inch in diameter, the 2006-2007 axles are both 1.50 inch in diameter.

If you have upgraded axles then you will have a 1.25" diameter axle on the drivers side and a larger 1.5" diameter axle on the passenger side.
If they are both 1.25" diameter axles then it's still stock.

Just to avoid any confusion - there may be two different definitions of the term "upgraded axles".
The traditional definition of upgraded axle applied when the owner a 2004/2005 (with 1.25 inch diameter axles) "upgraded" to 2006/2007 GM OEM axles, which are larger (1.50 inch). Both the 2004/2005 as well as the 2006/2007 axle sets were the same on the driver's side and passenger side of the car. A particular car could, of course, have one of each, if only one side was "upgraded."
Now with arrival of aftermarket axles designed to eliminate wheel-hop, such as those offered by GForce Engineering, there is another, new definition of "upgraded" axles. This definition applies to axle pairs with different diameter axles depending on location (driver's side or passenger side).
