Fueling & Injection - 50lb injectors for D1SC build

OK guys, I picked up some used 50lb injectors for a decent deal, but now I'm second guessing myself...

I'm doing a D1SC build on a stock LS1 with full exhaust and Shaner S3. I plan on running 6-8psi boost right now, and no more until I can forge the bottom end. I have a Warlboro 255 fuel pump with a Racetronix hotwire kit waiting to go in, along with this set of Delphi 50lb injectors. I know 60lb injectors would have been better long-term and give me more room to grow, but for my immediate horsepower goals (475-500), I thought I'd be safe.

I'm a newb to forced induction, and really to fuel injection as well, so I didn't really think about the tuneability and idle quality of the injectors until now. Am I going to run into issues tuning these injectors as opposed to 60lb injectors? Will they idle OK and have good driveability? With the rest of my fuel delivery setup, will I be able to reach my hp goals without going over 80-90% duty cycle?

I feel like a moron for not doing more homework on this beforehand, especially since I did so much on pretty much all the other bases. Guess I can always put them back up for sale, but I'd rather just roll with them for now if they'll work.

50s are fine for over 500 rwhp.

OK cool. Couple local guys with HPT and good tuning experience are helping me out with the tuning...not a lot of options up here for dyno tuning, so it's going to pretty much be a street tune.

Are the 60lb'ers easier to tune?

It all depends on who is doing the tuning, how experienced they are, and which injectors they are use to using. It somebody hasn't tuned with them before, they may just have to spend a little more time with the part throttle tuning to get it nailed down. Bob

We do not recommend the use of the Delphi 17113738 injector with the LT1 or LSX PCM's.
You would be better off with the 63's:

Hey, I made 550 rwhp with msd 50# injectors no problem!

Damn, you guys are confusing the hell out of me now. LOL. Don't know whether to keep them or not...

When I ran 8 psi through my D1SC, 42# Ford Green Tops were enough.

It is making 10 psi now and I ran out of injector (hit 100% duty cycle) at 5300 RPM, even though the green tops are rated at 2 bar, so they are more like 47# on an LS1 fuel rail.

Recently installed Siemens Deka 60# injectors (act more like 68 or 69# at my fuel pressure) and they give me plenty of room.

Mods in sig and im using 42lb green top....

I realize that people have had success with 42lb and 60lb injectors...I guess my question is, is there something about the Delphi 50lb injectors that makes them hard to tune? Common sense would say that if 42lb'ers work OK and 60lb'ers work OK, then 50lb'ers should be fine...but I get the feeling from some of the comments that maybe there's something about this particular brand or type of injector that makes them hard to tune. Am I way off here or what?

The 50# injectors will easily support the power you are trying to make, but the 50# injectors are hard to tune. A good tuner can do them, if they have the car, but I would not suggest them if you are planning a mail order tune.

If you got them for a really good price, try to sell them & possibly make some profit to fund a good set of injectors.

Thanks Lonnie. I have them up for sale now...we'll see if I can sell them and get some 60lbs. If not, I'm getting it tuned locally, so if I haven't sold them we'll give it a shot.
