Default Advice on power shifting for a novice.

Have owned my Z06 since feb 09. Never tried to power shift the car. Never have period. Any tips or advice you guys could give? Still on stock clutch at 52k miles. Got the car at 44k miles. Clutch is still good.

Put a GOOD shifter on the car with adjustable stops FIRST.

Practice practice practice.

Vette Hydraulics absolutely suck, unless he upgrades, it will break it.

Don't know about the clutch setup or if the shift forks are strong in the vettes but if you've never done it start out in the lower rpms like between 2500 and 4500. That way if it doesn't go into gear, you'll have time to get your foot off the gas before you hit the limiter.

Just takes practice. Start at low rpm like said above and only stay at 50% throttle until you get the hang of it. Just takes a quick stab of the clutch. Properly working hydraulics are an absolute necessity if you don't want to tear up the trans......nearly impossible to do with a stock master cyl IMO. I went with a Tick Performance master cyl and I powershift the wee out of mine at 7200rpm. It's hard on the drive-train....but so is dumping the clutch off the limiter and we all do that don't we?

Keep gas pedal to the floor, pre-load shifter, stab the clutch, and its done.

Never ever back off the throttle. Never ever hesitate the tinyist amount with your foot or hand/arm. The biggest advantage of powershifting is speed. The faster you do it the more advantage over your opponent you gain. Power shifting done slowly is not an advantage.
