Identical to the 243 heads. There are C6 Corvette guys with 1 243 and 1 799 on their engine!

Basically the same casting, just different numbers. Not a bad head at all.

I believe they are like a standard LS1 spring. They aren't the "yellow' LS6 springs that everyone wants. We pull them off and throw them in a box when we port them.

Yeah If your going any bigger than stock on the cam size, like per say, the Ls6 cam, Id grab a set of thoses yellow beehive Ls6 springs and retainers. They will keep the valvetrain alive and it will run smoother and be happy and say thank you when ur in higher rpms.

If you go aftermarket like comp cam or anything bigger than ls6 cam, Id grab a set of double springs or some beehives that will handle the lift on the new cam.

Doing heads/cam goes hand-in-hand, esp IF you are for sure doing the heads like in you're case. You will already have 90% of the stuff off the block to do it and the extra kick in the *** when you stomp on it will make it well worth it to do it all now. Adding a cam on your Ls1 with the 799 heads will help a ton more than just using the heads alone. Will def wake that engine up!

JUST REMEMBER IF YOU DO A CAM TOO, TO MATCH THE CAM AND HEADS WITH THE ENGINE. THINK about what you want as far as goals, the valvetrain is very important on these engine and MAKING the right setup can have a huge impact on the performance of the whole engine/car, in a good way of course

I thought the 799 Heads had a Smaller Combustion Chamber that the regular(862) 5.3 Heads have, but with port design of the LS6 head.

They are indeed 64cc on the chamber volume.
