Guys who go 10's....or should...take a look
I am wondering what it would take to get a ls1 to go 10's. Is it possible to do without porting the heads. I know the stock 10 bolt would be bound to let loss at any times, but I want to know if the following would give a chance for 10's? . LG G5X2 cam and all the parts needed such as better springs etc, ls6 intake, Free mods, TNT 150 Wet Shot, wlaboro fuel pump, all the accesories for the nitrous, lid, slp y-pipe, slp loudmouth,BFG drag radials or mt et streets, 6 spd t/a ws6 with agressive dirving ? Thanx for the help

I have a friend from Hattiesburg, MS who runs 10.80's in a 2002 Ws6. He has Eibach lowering springs, Tci SSF3500 converter, stock rear and trans, Comp 218/228 cam and other stuff to match, a Predator programmer, Volant Induction, removed baffles from hood, and a NX 150 shot. His car usually cuts 1.6's or so on nitrous and I took his sway bar off last weekend and I think he cut some 1.5's. I also know another guy with an 02 Z with a Yank tp4400, TR230/228 and all bolt ons and the car went 10.60's on a TNT 100 shot and like 11.2's or 3's on motor.
So YES YOU CAN do it!!!! and quiet easily too!

10s on a 150 shot is no problem...even with an internally STOCK engine. Been there, done that (with less nitrous.)
10s NA with a cam only engine? That's possible too but is quite a challenge to accomplish.

Heads/cam/nitrous is a sure fire way to hit 10's. Cam and nitrous most definitely can be done. Like Colonel said though, it's a bit tougher. Weight reduction helps alot

unit, I was speaking of a cam and NO nitrous when I said, "possible too but is quite a challenge to accomplish."
All things are made possible with MAD weight reduction!

Cam and bolt-on's in the 10's is impressive. When you're car weighs 2,800lbs things are a bit different though.

I think it could be done at 3400 lbs cam only. Lot's of cam, lots of gear, lots of converter...the usual recipe.
Reasoning. I'm at 11.20 now with 423 RWHP at 3525 lbs. I'm thinking that a REALLY awesome cam should almost trump my little 224/220 cam and my LS6 heads in the HP department. If not, slap on an electric WP and an LSX intake. Should be good for ~420 RWHP, no? Now, toss in a set of 4.30 gears (to my 3.23s), a TP4600 stall (to my SS4000), and a set of Bogart wheels all the way around and you should be 10s with the weight still at around 3400 or so.

As For 10's without heads, should not be too hard with a cam and N2O. About the only things I'd worry about is the clutch and rear. I'm a stab and steer guys so I don't know the clutch of the month but I see a 12 bolt/9" in your future

I did it with a completly stock motor with a 175 shot and long tube headers a py3600e convertor in a stock tranny and a stock untouched rearend. 3500lb race weight stock computer and fuel system. Its not hard to do just depends on the path you want to take
