347 and gt-88 turbo?????
How well would a gt-88 garrett turbo work with a forged 347 with 9.5 comp?
The car is just gonna be a weekend driver and mainly a drag car. I'm working on a bigger engine but don't see it being done till mid summer. Its gonna have a built 4l80e trans and 9in rear behind it. Goal is 13-15 psi of boost.
Just looking to see opinions and see if i should go with somethin smaller.

It'll work well. It's been done a bunch. Do a search. It will boil down to what specifically you want out of the vehicle. That's on the larger side for a street ride turbo. It will likely start to spool up over 4500 RPM. If you want to be in the boost down low alot, then you need something smaller.

I have been pondering the same thing with a PT-88 in my 355 with 8.5-1 compression. I have a 76GTS now and just getting some opinions of what it will be like on the street. The 76GTS in a properly set up car has gone low nines many times. I just get caught up in the dyno numbers

being an auto I'm not to worried about dyno numbers. I bought the turbo for a dyno queen 408 on my other trans am but things kinda changed. I guess there is always a 50shot or so with a micro switch to shut off around 4-4500rpm. Gonna be kinda hard to tune for that kinda setup though. Is a 88mm turbo gonna pull any harder at 13-15psi putting 600-750hp down?

More compression and less boost si the way to go in my opinion. Makes for a better street car. Its just more finiky when it comes to the tune.
My current 408ci Short block is good for 10.4:1 with 72cc heads. Should make for a fun setup. Just gotta decide weather it is gonna be a Big Single or Twins.

It seems like a forged 347 and a 88 can make good power in a race car. Ford guys have been putting monster turbos on small cube motors for a while and it seems to work well for them. I've seen 100+mm turbos on 331 fords.

Do you think bigger turbos work better on the Mod motors because the 4v heads move alot of air or is it just that LS/chevy guys dont really ever do the small cube big turbo combo?
