Default Small and large port bowtie Vortec heads

What is the difference between the vortec small port bowtie, vortec large port bowtie, and the regular iron vortec heads?

From everything I've read, I know that there is a difference in intake and exhaust runner sizes and port flows. I'm pondering a future project and working on a budget 383 SBC and would like some help on which cylinder heads I would consider purchasing and using.

My budget is limited since I am moving and starting a new job soon, so AFR 195 Street Eliminators are out of the question for now.
