Default what would make my alignment do this....?

this just happened randomly..... I take my car to the paint/body shop to get body work done and they say that this happens.... the steering wheel is pointed perfectly straight, mind you..

is my steering rack screwed? What would cause this??

this is really starting to **** me off, when I turned the steering wheel, both wheels reacted and moved left/right, so the tie rods/ends are good.... this is going to have a SERIOUS impact on my project as I was trying to get it to the dyno and have it dynotuned so I could post numbers on here then take it to the track.. I have a pair of 315 nittos I need to put on and this is going to delay me another 2-3 weeks at least....

this car has a LY6 in it... a VVT 6L motor out of a 2007 Silverado mated to a t56... it is fast as ****... so that makes me think someone might have taken it out for a spin and either lost control of it or didn't know how the hell to drive it and smacked a curb....

Almost looks to me like both lower arms are slid completely to the inside edge (towards the middle of the car) of the adjustment slots.

Doing that and nothing else would give you the huge amount of toe out that I think I'm seeing.

Peek under the car and tell us where the control arm bolts are in the slots.

any signs of damage at all? i doubt that would happen from contact with a curb or something without any visible signs

I would not take my car home without these clowns paying for a fix and alignment job.

i didn't notice anything obvious... some white junk on the tire, but I didn't notice any dents in the wheel or anything like that... it's in a paint shop so it's gonna get some junk on it, but the alignment was perfect on it before... not now...

here's all of the pics that I took...

oh, and from what I could tell the control arm bolts (at least the ones toward the front of the car) were fine... but I didn't check the rear bolts closest to the firewall...

If it happened in paint shop, the paint shop owes you for the repair/new alignment cost.

Wow these people really f'd your car up. Was the car put on a rack while being there? Was it towed there?
Look at the tie rod ends and see if they are bent, move the tie rods and see if they broke loose from the rack, look for any parts with scrapes on them or any evidence of someone trying to cover it up.

Thats crazy man they better take of you because you obviously didnt have a f'd up car beforehand and figured instead of fixing the suspension problem a paint job should be first lol.
Good luck!

they said that they did put it up on a rack .... but when I called, the owner said that the thing just fell out of alignment like that and that a "plastic sleeve" inside the steering rack broke...

I didn't think there was any plastic used inside that steering rack....

just to prove that the alignment was good on it before, here are videos of the car... not trying to plug my swap or anything, just showing that it WAS good..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZtZsYaphTM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_yYCX12IWM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxJmnKJ0ZJ0

the wheels are completely straight, the car drives perfectly straight

if even one of the wheels had done what is pictured in my original post, i'd be struggling to keep the car straight or even on the road...

yea that car should be moved in and out of the shop. It shouldn't be driven on the road since they are only doing body work and no suspension. They had to of driven the car and done something. They would be towing it to a shop to have it fixed and payed for by them and then removed from them competely to another body shop. I wouldn't trust them after this happend.

that is bs i hate when people wont own up to what they did. they clearly fucked it up. Tell them you will be getting in contact with the police department, and the better business bureau, as well as renting a billboard and posting on it how bad they suck ***.
