Is a ported tb worth the money it has the pump stop removed as well .. freshly done the guy wants 59 dollars for it. he says it is ported to 75 mm

Better throttle response, and a slight increase in power. Ported to 75mm? I thought stock was 75mm, and ported came out to 78mm or whatever.....regardless, if it is done right, that isn't a bad price.

I could feel some more power after I got a ported tb. Not much, but the car felt a bit stronger.

yeah because i thought it was 75mm maybe he meant it was stock at 75mm and then ported i emailed him for clarification. Now would I tune with my other mods? and i am kinda looking mostly for thottle response i find stock tb is alittle sluggish

stock IS 75mm. ya i'd clarify that with him. still $59 is cheaper than one would cost from the dealer. porting and bump stop are really easy to do yourself to save u the money. porting u just have to be really careful when doing. now the bumpstop, just make sure u dont grind off to much...u dont wanna go over 90 degrees open on the throttle blade

well I did both the TB and LS6 at the same time.. and it made a huge difference in my ride... mostly above 4500rpm to red line+

thanks for all the responses. I would think i should see some increase because i also have the slp intake with the mass air sensor? right this guy claims it could see 10-15 rwhp.. and jsafe this is for a jantzer tb like the one you got. edo you like yours

i look at them before and the stock throttle blade is still used but it starts out bigger then goes down to the stock mm. im sure it would still make some power but i would just get a t/b that is truely xx mm. hope that helps and if im incorrect about anything.....my bad lol.

78mm is the stock size...good price though, noticed a nice increase from mine.

dont think youll need a tune, but they never hurt, they help out any car! sure its worth a few horse, and ensures its running properly.

also im thinking 78mm is factory size

and the 10-15horse is a little exagerated, if you ever run accross a LS6 intake cheap, grab one up and youll see those numbers.

also-monmouth, sweet ride! always thought about going to the LT1 WS6 front end on my car, just for the sleeper look....big headed LS1 owners....LOL!!!! sorry had to deal with that in high school with my 95TA...

I ported my own, real easy to do, also done the bumpstop, i picked up a little over a tenth and 1 mph in the 1/4 and went from a 1.71 60 foot to a 1.67 just to give you an idea of how it might help ya out.

You said the bump stop was removed? Make sure that it hasn't been completely removed but ground down just enough that it doesn't set off the code. You will need a volt meter to back probe and verify this. If it is ground down too far just drill and tap it and put a set screw in with some locktight and set it where it needs to be. If it's removed then it's junk.

First off, Porting the TB and modding the bump stop helps throttle response. You cannot feel the hp diff. On average the HP % Increase needs to be in the neighborhood of 15% in order to "feel" it.

As for porting it. I went from a 90/90 back to a LS6 to free up cash and I had JL-ws6 come over and port the TB for me. Nothing crazy but take off the edge to the TB, no quite knife edge but definitly smoother. Smooth out the horn and grinded on the back of the shaft bolts. Cost me a set of dremel sand paper rolls and some 1000 grit sand paper. It was more then worth it.
