347 in the 5's ?

Default 347 in the 5's ?

ok guys here's the scoop as of now i have a 347 shortblock....stock crank forged h beam rods and wiseco -11cc dish pistons....needing advice on what heads & cam to go with....topped of with a vic jr and a 90mmtb....and a master power mp4598 turbo....we have a lot of guys running an 8.5 tire class around here....needing to get this car into 5.60's in the 1/8th....what do you guys think? i know that the turbo will have to be changed but im looking to get the bugs worked out with this small turbo then step up to a bigger one say a 80-88mm?

It is definitely possible, my car has been 5.96 on a stock shortblock/heads and 60'ing like a turd. If the car is light enough you could go that number on fairly small turbo.

You will need an 88mm unit to reach that level of performance. A MP unit will not make any power close to what you need. If you push it, then expect it to come apart.

88mm is good for solid 5.4's with a properly set up car. And faster if everything is perfect.

I went 5.9 with my old setup, and I pretty much didn't know what I was doing.

I'd buy aftermarket heads with a thicker deck they won't lift as easily as stock heads.

What are some other 5 sec 347 combos? Anyone do it on spray much?

What size turbo? Any more details on your build?

I've had two in the 5s with a 347, LS6 intake, smallish cam etc but I used a procharger.

60' is the tough part when looking for 5.60s, I'm sure its possible with the right turbo and a light enough car.

Good to know. been trying to decide whether or not to leave mine as a nitrous setup or go turbo. Looking for 5's to be competitive in a local 'street car' class here in Iowa. Mid 5's should get me solidly in the field.

Does the class limit you to a certain size turbo wheel limit or pill size?

Not at all. Any engine combo, any power adders. Stock style suspension, no wheelie bars, drag radial or 10.5 tire. Low payout to keep out the heavier hitters.
