Z06 style Z28 emblem (pics inside)
Ok, i set out to make a z06 style LS1 emblem and a z28 emblem, well today i finally recieved the test peice back.
Its a thin emblem, made out of aluminum. The top surface is polished and the inlays have a "milled" appearence. I don't know if i like the milled appearence that much but i had it done to stay with what the z06 style looks like. I plan on either adding red paint or a red vinyl inlay to the Z area. If you really look up close and analyze this thing you can obviously tell its not a production peice from the factory, its not superb quality, but it is very good. From a few feet away (hell from a foot away) this thing looks really cool.
I need some opinions, keep the milled finish? Have it just regular without milled? Make the entire thing polished? What about chrome? Opinions/comments/suggestions wanted, thank you.
I am already aware of the "8" issue, it being squished and it is going to be resolved. I will soon be chroming the peice too just to see how it comes out and possibly powdercoating the areas that aren't raised.

Nice man, where do you plan on putting them, you could take all your stock "Z" emblems off and replace all three with those, that would look very good. Would look great and pretty different...nice and sleak. Good Luck

WOW - what type of work do you do for real? That is EXCELLENT!
Having been a designer, and have worked in small run protyping of many things, I know the challenges in this - may I ask how you did this?
Any 'ballpark" estimates on final item price?
I do see some "skew" on the "2" vs. the "8" but that may be photo distortion.
Now can you do a "LS1" in the stock "Z28" font, with the horizontal depressions , just like the plastic OEM one?

Thanks for the feedback guys, keep it coming i really appreciate. I am working on fixing the 8 and trying out other finishes aswell. I am going to see how everything looks when its completely chromed and also more of the z06 style finish, might try some powdercoating. I know these are already being sold by some other guy but as you can see this version is a bit different. And yes custom applications are available. I will not discuss pricing or that i am even selling these (which right now i am not) just wanted feedback on what you think regarding my personal project. Thank you.

Just some helpful info, because I like your idea alot. MBA (one of our sponsors) makes the "Z07" billet badges that MTI puts on their 7.0L Corvette packages. They are nearly identical to the factory Z06 emblem, just made of billet aluminum instead. Maybe you could get them to make some "Z28" emblems with their same tool path program? That would be sweet, and since they are a sponsor they could sell them.
