Default Need Help/Opinions Please.

My factory 12 disc CD changer seems to be malfunctioning. It skips very easily and there is a distinct "static" sound in the background while the music is playing. It also kind of sounds like an old "dot matrix" printer coming from the background. The discs do not appear to be scratched (I take good care of them) and I don't go "4 wheeling" with my camaro.- I try to keep it on the road! In my opinion, it's dirty. Is there any way to clean this unit? I would appreciate any opinions/help, etc.

Thanks,

Stan.

Have you put a cleaner disc in it?
If it persists you can take it to a car audio repair shop, they can fix them.
or find 'em for sale used alot....

Does it do it with every disc?
Is there noise when there is quiet on the disc? When not in "play" just on?
Any evedence of dust, dirt, moisture or other nasties on, in or near the unit?
have you taken the unit out and looked at it carefully, and made sure all connections are tight and clean?

Just trying to isolate possible ideas. Need to work methodically on these things - keep us informed.
