we took off my friends starter for less than 15 minutes to install a longtube header and bolted it back up, when we tried to start the car you can hear the starter spinning but there is no cranking over at all.. what did we do wrong? the starter never touched the ground or was disconnected from the wiring...

Sounds like it's not fully seated. Make sure it's not cricked and that it's fully bolted on. This happened to me before..

its not fully seated, line it up and put it in again. careful so you dont damage the flywheel by cranking it misaligned

thanks guys.. well give it another crack on monday.. when you say fully seated do you mean i need to tighten the two bolts more.. (i thought i tightend then well enough) or like push the starter forward towards the flywheel.. or am i way off... sorry for the ignorance.. never dealt with starters before
