Default shifter problems

I am trying to reinstall the automatic shifter **** on my 96 T/A and when i get it attached, i can not put the car completely in park therefore i am not able to remove the keys from the ignition. I think i tried everything but i am about to smash it with a hammer in rage. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Default

is the shifter going all the way in to park? how is the shift cable, is it damaged or binding somewhere. i dont have an auto 4th gen, but i had about 15 3rd gen camaro's. i replaced quite a few of those cables on them. if the **** is sticking you could try spraying some lube down the shaft.
