I'm looking for a machine shop with a good reputation that can do the machine work to my LQ9 block. The guy close to me (Pittsfield MA) has a phenominal reputation for doing great work, but he doesn't have torque plates for the LS motors. I may still go with him anyway, but I'm also interested in finding out what my other options are.

Thanks. They're still close to a 2 hour drive, but I suppose that's do-able if I can't find anybody closer.
I just wish I could get some good info on just how important those torque plates really are. The guy near me has an incredible reputation, and he's 5 minutes from work. He also reminded me that GM doesn't use torque plates when they hone their cylinders, and my bores looked brand new after 130k miles.

They don't. The only torque plates he has are for BBC and SBC.
Anybody know of good shops in the Hartford CT area? I could always pack the wife and kid up with the block and go visit the inlaws.
