LMR would be my first choice, followed by G-Force. Icon would complete the only three shops I would feel good taking my car to - can't go wrong with any of them.
You really get what you pay for, like Mike said.
Only other way I would go is to do it myself, plan it, take your time, then take it in for a full tune. Then you gotta ask, "What is my time worth?"
Call Late Model Racecraft would be my advice. You'll find the top notch shops (like them, GForce, etc) charge comparable prices. If you are shopping simply by who's the cheapest, have fun with THAT down the road...

What is the average rate these days for labor, no tune? What is the tune price?
Just moved from PA and miss my buddy's shop who does good work and would do cam/heads for well under a grand for labor. No tune. I dont see why it would be a grand for just labor

No but if you use a shop and something goes wrong the shop is responsible and does not leave the customer out in the cold, we also do this everyday and know how to avoid situations that will make a car owner unhappy with the outcome of the project.
