Default R8 style open gate shift plate

is it possible to get a metal open gate plate for the f-body like the one in the audi R8? i think open gates look a lot better than a traditional boot and would be interested to see if there is one available. im sure one could fabricate something but just wondering if anything is available in aftermarket. Also i doubt it but if anyone has it done id like to see a pic. thnx guys

a lot of our shifter sticks are thicker than what it probably should be for an open gate shifter plate. I'm not really into that look, but it would be nice to have it made for those who do like it.

Use some card board and make a template of the shifter opening in the console. Then make your shift gates in the template. Try it out. If it works go get a piece of aluminum and transfer the template to it. Then with a lot of patience and a 6 pack cut it out and "massage" it to the curve you want and voila!! If you want it that bad lol.

I too was curious about this. I researched it some, and realized it severely hinders how you shift. Meaning, you have to be very precise in your shifts... No more diagonal slams or anything like that. I have to say though, they look pretty cool.
