anyone gutted stock cats?? what are they made of??

Default anyone gutted stock cats?? what are they made of??

I am looking for 1st hand knowledge. I need to gut a 1998 camaro ss cats they are clogged and replacements are not in the cards. The y pipe is off the car can i gut them on the y pipe or should i cut them and re weld. what is the shell of the cat made of it looks like stainless does this mean that the entire y is stainless? Thanks

You should just sell them, people pay really good money for cats. Then take the money and buy a y pipe with no cats that hooks up to the stock manifolds.

They are using these 2 lines to keep the gov off there ***. Its sold to be used to pass visual emissions test no matter what their fake intentions are.

They could probably get slapped with a big *** fine if they didnt play it off like retards on their site.

im interested in what the exterior shell is made of. Some are ss and some are steel. I know whats on the inside.

The outter steel of stock cats on F-bodys are just plain steel like the rest of the exhaust. Definitely not Stainless steel.
