Default Stock Cat flow-through pipe

I have stock gutted cats on my 02 Z right now. I want to weld in a piece of pipe in each one to make it flow through. Can somebody tell me the size pipe and what length to get to weld in them? I want to be able to take it apart and do it all in a couple of hours not take it apart and have to go buy pipe. Thanks. I cant just take them off and put an offroad pipe in either I need them for inspection.

i read on here that the open cat causes turbulance in the flow. i dont know if thats true or not. so i was just going to weld some pipe in there to make sure.
