Default windage tray ..options?

Ran into an issue this afternoon during my project.

I bought an LS1 off a guy who was using a Dwayne Due subframe that cause him to put a truck pan & windage tray on the motor due to crossmember placement.

well, with mine I needed to switch back to the Fbody. I bought a new oil tank & pickup tube but not the windage tray. Obviously the truck tray - since it goes all the way to the timing chain - isn't going to work with the Fbody pan..I want to drop my motor in tomorrow and don't feel like chasing down a windage tray.

Think I can just cut it to the length of the Fbody tray? or are they so different that I would cause a problem?

I once compared my CTS-V (I think they are the same as the Trucks) to F-Body, and from what I saw, yes, you should be able to trim it back to F-Body size.

Just check the height and any notches on the sides.

Awesome thanks. I'm fairly confident it won't be a problem. Looks about an inch back from the 2nd bolt. I'll take some measurements and just roll with it.

Why not just buy one? They were under $20 at the dealer.

People also trim them back when they stroke them 4.25" on up.

Them windage trys are cheap.. $28 for one at the dealer.. cheap insurance and a helper on performance... ($17 if you go gmpartsdirect, but shipping/handling is a killer with them)

so cutting the windage tray fixed the problem? I'm in the same boat and would rather trim mine as long as it doesn't cause any issues.

Does anyone have the camaro windage part number handy just in case?

I didn't get a quick enough answer so I decided to modfiy my 5.3 tray....I cut off part of the front section like the picture and had to notch out a spot where the pick bracket mounted for clearance....worked like a charm.

Thanks

I didn't cut mine, I just bent it up at the point where it touched enough to clear and the pan went right on lol
