Default tapping and baffling valley cover for AN line for PCV

im running a single plane manifold and i have a ls1 style valley cover im about to tap into the cover with a -10 fitting for a vent line for the PCV system.
im pretty sure im going to need a baffle to avoid oil consumption, just a bit curious as how it should be oriented.
i will be tapping into it towarss the passenger side front of the cover.should the opening of the baffle be facing towards the front , driver, passenger or rear of the vehicle.i figured facing towards the front of the engine would be the best bet. looking for some more opinions from people who have tried it...
thanks

i would make it so the open part of the baffle faces towards the front of the engine.

Don't the GTO or newer LS valley covers already have a 3/8 fitting on them?

You won't need a baffle, it will be fine without it. I have lines off the valve covers and I have no issues with oil getting into the catch can, over the course of the entire last racing season I bet I only got about 2 ounces of oil out of the can, probably not even that much. Valley venting the motor you'll probably get even less then that.

i plan on doing this also, my plan was to use 2 -10 fittings welded to the valley cover and route them into my headers to create a vacumm effect and help me out that much more. anyone have pics of there welded fittings?

I did mine near the front. Tapped it with a 1/2 NPT and ran a single -12 hose to my tank. No baffle in mine

I did a -08 line to a bulk head fitting I put in the rear of my valley cover with no baffle and the can gets a lot of oil in it. In about 10 runs it will have around 3-4 oz of oil.

I don't knoa about too big, but it needs to be big enough to allow the pressure to freely escape the crankcase. -10 Teed together, to the -12 inlet is what I did to my moroso overflow/vent can, works good.

That might be why I'm getting a lot of oil in my can. To small of a line and it is blowing a lot of pressure up in the hose takeing some oil with it. My motor is also setup a little loose as we are sraying it this year.

That's most likly your problem. Get a -10 line on there at a minimum and I bet the problem goes away. My motor''s set up loose as well.. I had alot of oil getting in the intake when I had the pcv on it, even with a catch can, pulled that all off and went to a breather stup, never had another drop of oil get burnt, intake is nice and clean and everything's been good.

Vaccum pump going on next though.... simply because they're just a good idea. Probably a moroso, or maybe an aerospace.

Here is the catch can I made out of an 18" piece of exhaust tubing. It's also filled it with stainless steel wool to filter any oil. I put a lage drain as the small ones didnt drain well for me
