Starter relay going bad
I just replaced my starter relay for the third time in a year. Every so often it goes bad, with little to no warning. Drop a new relay, and all is good for a few months. Starter is about a year old, and wiring is is decent shape. Any ideas???

no, the relay located under the hood, drivers side in the relay center, there are 2 boxes that have relays and fuses located next to the ABS control. Ive gotten the relays from NAPA. They just sold me one that is supposed to be a better, more sturdy relay, but I can't tell the difference between the two choices, we'll see. Any thoughts?

ive replaced one starter relay on my car since 2001 and have 73k miles on my car. If your replacing relays this often I really think you should go have your starter checked out for an excessive voltage/amperage draw during cranking. Sounds like you have excessive resistance in the cirduit somewhere

Test the bad one to see what went wrong, are the contacts burned open or the coil circuit burned open? It makes a difference as to what is wrong. If the contacts are burning up its time to repair or replace the starter.
