I was looking for a set of adjustable rear lower control arms for my car and there are so many different styles. I stumbled on a set localy and he said they are double adjustable "aluminum bodied" tubular control arms. They have QA1 40,000lb rated ends. I was just wondering if they will be strong enough since all the ones I've seen are either moly or steele. I plan on running 9's and a wheel stand here and there and I don't know how much stress the LCA's will see?

I don't know what they look like but the LCA's take all compression force when you accelerate 'cos you're basically pushing the car by them ... depending on the design (solid/tubular/wall thickness/diam./etc.), I would say they'll work, but I'll hold my judgment for now. They'd def. be nice for a street/handling car

I've had some on my car for a year or so and they are fine. I run my car pretty hard and they are still as good as when i bought them.

I've seen pics of thjem and they look like any other tubular adjustable arm. They are not the box style. Not sure on the thickness. I just don't want to be the guy who does a wheel stand and then one of the arms bends and then the car is in the wall or flipped upside down. Its just a good deal and if they will handle the drag strip without worry, then ill snag them up.

Hey:

I've got a bud whom has them on a 1000+ hp big block, tin can, third gen and they have the same rear setup as fourth gens do, his car turns hi 8s now, with them on for at least 5 seasons. He had them zyglowed to check for cracks and they passed with flying colours. He has 4.88 rear gears in a 9" and has smoked a couple of them, but no issues with the LCAs. The only problem he has had, was the first ones (6 seasons ago) were to big in diameter and rubbed the rear slicks, and he had to offset them, he now has smaller diameter ones. What is the diameter of them?

Not sure on the diameter. I didn't know any companies made aluminum ones for f-body's? Maybe they are homemade?

If you use ones like these then they're strong enough. I understand the concern with regards to UTS, YTS, Elongation, Rockwell hardness as well as their comparative fatigue cycles between the equivalent dimensions of 6061-T6511 vs. 4130, however I've confirmed those figures on the website above to be accurate and precise.

That car in my sig? It was installed over 4 years ago and the tubing was purchased used. My friend who now owns it daily drives it as well as open tracks it quite often has not noticed any serious signs of failure from it to this day. I'm still searching for those who've had a failure with regards to those dimensions and have found none. Heard of their equivalent PHB's bending, but no pics to confirm.
