Intake! A while back i read a post and cant find it for the life of me... someone had made an intake using a trash can and the K&N filter from LPE!
well i purchased a trash can that cost $7.48 some hose clamps for a few more dollars im still waiting on the filter but ill post some pics of the finished product in the next few days! i cant upload the pic at the moment but it will look clean in the end!

Can you please post a pic of your stock intake setup. I purchased a 05v that came with a k&N intake installed. The stock intake came with the car and when i was in the garage i noticed that the stock intake used to draw air though a duct right next to the radiator that connected to the airbox. I would like to modify my k&n kit to re use this stock duct, but would like to see if its possible first before i cut up the air box. thanks.

Interested in how this turns out. I measured things out with the k&n and i should be able to modify both to fit, but it would be too much of a pain to sut the k&n since its made from some what thick mild steel.

got it in today but i need to get new piping to finish it off the final fit will be a little different and once it is warm enough to use adhesive with some molding around the top...and the best part if you make some mistakes on the first part you always have the other half of the trash can to use as your final product!

looks good. were you able to reuse the air duct right next to the radiator? I may just have to stencil out my current k&n intake to plate and try to make one out of plastic too, and see if i feel a difference. itsslow98 it sould make a difference once properly sealed, to keep the car from sucking in hot air. The k&n kit isnt much thicker, and metal absorbs more heat than plastic ever will. Thats why the k&n kit comes a plastic lining and with a plastic snorkel versus a metal one. Search home made intakes for the v, with metal piping, the guys who did this said their intakes get super hot quick, but i can touch my k&n when the motor been running just fine.

not bad at all. I kinda like it. Did you seal with silicone down by the body ? I imagine it was hard to get a perfct cut.
I hope you dont put a huge metal tube like some guys do on here , which just atracts all the heat from the radiator.

it wasnt from LPE they use a different filter now S&B i already have cleaning products for k&n so i went with them i belive it was like $50.00 if you went with S&B it is like $36.00 from the LPE website!
i removed the rubber snorkel it has been to cold to try and seal it up at the moment i was thinking of using a sheet of insulation something like dynomat to stick to the back of the plastic to keep the heat in the engine bay and away from the filter but idk for now the filters on and working seems a little more responsive then the stock box with a crap filter..
Theres a bit of cutting to get it in there right!
