Default 02 Ls1 cam in a 5.3l ECRB 4wd Silverado?

I have a 5.3l 2001 ECRB 4wd Silverado which tows my race trailer and is a DD. I do not race it at all. So far I have a wait4me tune, Pacesetter LT and ORY pipe, F body E-fans. Tows very well but I may have a "free" LS1 cam I can put into it. Would it be too much cam for my purposes?

Thanks

I think the 02 LS1 is a truck cam.

Someone can confirm.

It certainly would not be "too much".

i think 67 obove is correct...when going from a stock cam....if im correct a slightly bigger cam than stock will actually create more power accross the whole range, only more drastic cam changes will pull from your low end, in your case that wouldnt happen....it will prolly run better all the way around, who knows, maybe even improve gas mileage with that trailer due to efficiancy reasons....i gotta be honest though....i doubt that ls1 cam is much bigger, you might want to consider not even doing it because if may be a waiste of your time and money for the increase you will get...maybe 15whp at most..and thats if they are not the same cam already

I believe the 01-02 ls1 cams are the same as the 6.0 engines...don't waste your time, there prob is not much difference if any between cam sizes.

yea i think brian g is right, unless you are really bored and have extra cash you dont care about, its probably not worth the work....weather or not you want to throw like an ls6 cam in there though...might be something to ponder...again wont be a huge gain but that one will be good and noticable(ls6 over stock 5.3).....you could go even bigger than that...maybe something like a 222/219 555/551 111 if your looking to have some tow power.

they may even be a little big...anyhow, what im tryin to say is you could look into a custom cam for around 500 that would increase power wherever you want it to, even all over.
