I bought a whole ls7 clutch kit that came off a 2007 z06 right when they bought the car. The guy replaced it right away with a stage 2 clutch. N e ways I bought the whole oem clutch kit and was wondering if I had to buy an ls2 flywheel?

LS7 clutch requires an LS2 flywheel to install on your car.

I have never heard of anyone using an ls7 flywheel so i would say no, you need an ls2 one or aftermarket.

Well if a sponsor at SDPC says you can use a LS7 flywheel, I'd keep what you have.

to the op keep searching about the ls7 flywheel working on ls1, i recall reading something about the bolt pattern being different, not saying the sdpc sponsor is wrong but i remember this info coming up in the manual transmission section

I thought the LS7 and LS2 flywheel where the same... Maybe not

I was using an LS7 clutch kit for quite a while with good results. I hear of a lot of them blowing up though on high HP cars.

Edit: I just rememberd that the clutch kit I was using was off of a Crate LS7. So yes you can use an LS7 Clutch kit regardless if it uses the LS7/LS2 flywheel.

Sorry to bring this back from dead. According to GMPartsdirect, and my GM parts guy, ALL non-supercharged (ie non-ZR1) C6's use the same flywheel part number...so unless people are using the LS2 GTO flywheel (which IS a different part number, and costs twice as much money)...all LS7 stuff works fine because the "LS2 flywheel" is the same as the LS7 one as long as we're talking Corvettes, right? I believe the LS9 has an 8 bolt crank flange versus the 6 bolt flange in all the other gen 3 and 4 engines (except maybe the LSA, don't know what that one has).

Maybe this will motivate me to go with a stronger axle and sticky tires :)
