Default Local 275 radial race help

A local 1/8 mile track is having a race
275 Drag Radial Rules

NOS cars:

Big Block Conventional heads 2 stages

Big Block NON conv heads 1 stage

All Small Blocks 2 stages

SUPERCHARGED cars

F1-R OK

TURBOCHARGED cars

88 mm max (no reducers)

They arn't going to have weight limits. I have a notchback 87 to play with. I will need to sell my 91 and get a 88. I have a ls2 404 but might go down to a 366 or so. I fell I can get the car to weight 2700-2800 with driver pretty easy. I also feel I will need to run high 4's to win but would be ok getting down sub 5.2's. Can I get there with a 88 easier or build a larger motor and run 2 kits?

I dunno where those rules are, but I'm glad they aren't ones I have to run by. A conventional headed BBC with 2 kits is gonna be BY FAR the fastest thing allowed, hands down, especially with no ci limit. Someone will have a 632 with 2 kits in the car and believe me, if you think a small block can keep up with that good luck, and a small block with an F1R or an 88 mm is still screwed BIG time. SB nitrous with 2 kits, you can make maybe 1300 hp, any more then that you're blowing alot of **** up, 88mm on a small block is gonna be able to make about 1100 to 1300 MAX, I can't see that size tuebo even with a T6 flange makeing any more then that and that's even a stretch, F1R setup will probably make 1100 to 1200, a non conventional BBC with 1 kit can certainly make 1200, hell if there's no CI limit they can do more then that, a non conventional BBC can make 1000 on nuts, put 2 guns on it and you can probably see 1600 out of that.

If you want to win that class... I'd build a car for it. 4th gen cars with a BBC are a nightmare to work on period, especially with a tall deck motor, and if they're allowing that in the class... I'd just put a car togeher that will fit in a little easier.

What abotu bore spacing? Is there a rule on that? Because if there isn't..... a 5.0 bore space BBC with non conventional heads and a single kit is gonna be a serious contender as well. You can make probably in the 1200 hp range with that on nuts, leave on motor, then bring in a single 500 hp kit once it's rolling and belive me that's gonna be a hard combo to beat as well if there's no bore spacing/CI rules.

I'm hoping, that you left out alot of details with CI limits, or BIG weight penalties.

That is the only rules. I don't think they have a very large payout but it is now the only local track since Memphis closed. That want it to be easy to tech. So no cubic inch limits, bore staping, jetting. Just what you see. I'm not against building a BB if it fits into my budget. I could also sell my other items. I don't know much about BB but I could spend 15-20k.

20K probably won't get you a 5.0 bore space BBC, but it will build you a conventional headed motor that will make the power you need.

I'd seriously look for something other then an f body to put it in though... just because they're a bitch to work on. What are the rules for suspension? If they aren't teching that either, then a 4 link'd car is the obvious way to go.

I'm putting it into a 87 Mustang but it would still be tight I'm sure.

Yeah I was thinking that too. All alum 632 in a fox body that's gonna be what 2600 lbs? Typical, another class for nothing but mustangs.
