Default New SES Code, P1336, Predator won't clear???

This morning I had a SES light code 1336. Predator
says "Crankshaft position (CKP) variation not
learned", pretends it's clearing the code but it
does not go away, even if the car hasn't been
started after the clear (crank learn / check
should only happen during start, right?)

The only thing I've noticed is a somewhat more
surge-y cold idle and it's died a couple of times
when pulling out & then stopping, cold. This has
been going on for a week or two, but the code
only showed up today and there is no obvious
difference from yesterday.

Seems an odd failure, might be an "oops" having
to do with the recent converter install (monkey
w/ tools at the back of the motor)?

i bet its the sensor, could have been messin up wihtout a code and now its just totally gone. if u damaged a wire it could have been going in and out of working and now its just totally out. i would check the wires/sensor out

I looked over the wires / sensor / connector and it
seems to be unmolested & clean.

All of the stuff I read on the 'net and in the Helm
manuals say to force a relearn, and use the TechII.
Unfortunate, if you're a regular Joe and don't happen
to have dealership equipment.

Is there any way to do the crank relearn without
the TechII hardware, like some secret "blow the
horn twice with the glovebox open in Park" deal?

All the diagnostic flow tables say to do the relearn
first, to see I guess if it's the sensor (code is not
that the snesor is dead, only that "variation was
not learned".

If you would have bought EFILive, you could have reset the CPS.

I do have EFILiveV6, tried it out tonight, the CKP
relearn won't work properly (v6.18) and only one
of the two P1336 codes that show up, get deleted
when I command it to. Kooky. We'll see if the EFILive
board guys have any helpful advice.

Well, it gets kookier... took it to the dealership, the
paperwork sez they scanned and only got code P0452
(Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor
Low Input) - not the P1336 that both my tools said.
They replaced the fuel tank pressure sensor and now
the SES light is off. I guess they probably did the
relearn as part of the drill but didn't get to talk to
the tech.

At least it only cost me $0.53 (that being the disposal
fee for my oil change). FTP Sensor was a warranty item.
