I read in a thread somewhere placing the key in the igintion charges the battery in the key.
True or false?

and if you hold the fob at your chin while pointing the key toward your car you get better range with it too.


and, if you hold the t/c button for 30 seconds, you will activate the factory power mod chip in the bcm.

Not true and the battery can not be replaced. When the battery dies you need a new fob.

not enitrely true. there's a thread on another forum showing how to replace the battery in the keyfob. it does require some soldering though


and to the OP, there's no truth at all to that. i wish it was true, as then maybe all our key fobs might work better.. but no

On a side note, IF you have an after market alarm that is wired up to unlock doors, pop the trunk, etc. then you don't need to worry about a dead battery in your factory fob, as it is only used for such features, not starting the car.

If I had an aftermarket alarm I sure as hell wouldn't use that gigantic key anymore. lol

^^^^ unfortunately, even with an after market alarm, the key & fob are needed to start the car. Although LSPWR is working on something to fix that.
