Default Going in gear without stepping on clutch pedal

2001 Camaro SS with stock Flywheel and spec stage 3+. I noticed during my clutch install that the clutch disk alignment with the pilot tool was not centered (on it's own) as I installed the pressure plate. I had to take off the pressure plate. I centered the clutch disk with the pilot tool, then installed the pressure plate. It now looked centered (Could this be a pilot bearing problem? Pilot bearing looked fine). I did not shim the Spec during installation.

Now when I start the car, I am able to shift the transmission (without stepping on the clutch pedal), by taking small forced "jabs" into the desired gear with the shifter and it will eventually "pop" in gear (usually takes about 3-5 "jabs").

I can also step on the clutch pedal and put the car in gear like normal without any force.

Since the car is on jackstands, I did see that the rear wheels would turn when the transmission is in gear by "jabbing" it into gear with no clutch or stepping on the clutch and putting it into gear.

Can anyone explain why this is happening?
