i have an 02 SS with 92K on it and was wanting to get a clutch this summer, i wanted the LS7 clutch and i ran across this guy with a ls7 clutch for sale, he sent me pics and i can see heat spots buy not sure if i should buy it or not, he wants 255 shipped... he said the owner before him said the clutch had 5k on it he said he never ran with this clutch but he would if he had to but he said he got a better clutch *spec, or centerforce*... anyways here are some pics and please let me know what yall think of it...

If your going to take the time to pull the tranny and change out the clutch, I would just buy a new one. Its alot more expensive, but its a piece of mind knowing you have a new one in there. It looks almost like my stock clutch with 70k on it, except mine has alot more blue on it.

whats the other side of the flywheel look like since its the part that contacts the pressure plate.

im not worried about the labor of it all... pulling the tranny is easy cause my friend has a lift, compresser, trans jack... so that makes things 100X easier i just dont want to waste $250 but if it's a good clutch i think it's worth it... but i dont know much about clutches so im trying to get some opinions

as Southpaw stated IMO it is too much work to end up doing twice even with a lift and air tools, and then you still need to think about changing the slave and tob, ask yourself would you buy used brake shoes or pads? I hope not brakes and clutches is just something you shouldn't skimp on, and plus you are only saving about $200 from a brand new LS7 set-up, I myself like to know I have the peace of mind that I wont have to do the clutch swap hopefully for another 50-75 thousand miles, but to each his own.

That clutch looks fine to me. If you can do your own labor then I'd say go for it. Its not that hard to pull the trans out. I've had mine out plenty of time and it only takes me about 45 mins to have it on the ground with a lift and air tools.

on the lift with all the tools it takes about 30min. its not a big deal at all.

I also don't see anything wrong with the clutch. Only thing I can't see is how much clutch materials on the clutch disc. If there is alot of meat, buy it. You'll be very happy with this deal and the feel.

Clutch looks decent, its probably fine.

However, personally I'd just spend the $450 on a new LS7 clutch kit, which includes a new flywheel. Just not a fan of installing used transmission/clutch parts.

But if the labor involved doesn't bother you at all, by all means go for it.

thanks for yalls input guys... i know what yall mean about putting a used clutch in and it's like putting used brake pads but iunno... i just dont have the $500 to shell out right now and i need a clutch, it's not slipping i dont think but i can feel that it's not that great either... we shall see i guess if anything i will buy a new ls7 clutch this summer, any of yall running them, i dont plan to do much more soon just a tb intake and tune, im pretty sure it'll hold that, some people say i can still smoke the ls7 clutch just with the HP i have now....

Go for it . Like they said if you don't mind the labor and you ain't paying for the labor what's the worst that can happen? Buy the used clutch andwith the money u save get new hydraulics. Depending on how much you drive it and how you drive it might last u years. I just pulled my 100,xxx mile stock clutch and if not for the pilot bearing going out it would still have life in it and that's with 370 rwhp and drag radials for the last 60,000 or so. You just never know.

yeah im pretty sure my clutch is still the oe one... i have 921XX on it right now and i only drive it on nice weekends to shows n cruises... but i do drive it kinda hard when im driving... i still might try n get that clutch if not i will get a ls7 clutch this summer

Niether would I...but the OP said the labor doesn't matter to him, so in his case, its not that big a deal I suppose.

I myself would never do that as well, but the Op said he doesnt mind the labor and others said they can drop a tranny in 30 minutes, and by his posts he doesnt even have money right now for a used clutch, so just another tire kicker, either way if you keep pulling that transmission out you will eventually have a stripped bolt hole somewhere or a broken bolt or get very unlucky and drop a transmission or if you are really lucky drop it on a hand toe or finger, just some bad crap in general can happen, what I am trying to say is do it right the first time and forget about for a good long time.
