Default How much abuse can a stock ford 9 take?

Im wondering what the HP limit is on a factory ford 9" third member. I found someone selling third members in the lower 48 that were factory posi units(31 spline) and Im guessing that different case material changes the holding power. This summer Ill be around 450whp, or so(havent dynoed yet) and Im thinking my 10 bolt wont make it the whole summer. What codes would I be looking for to get the better cases, which I think are the nodular ones? Thanks in advance

I found a center with 3.50 for real cheap. I dont know how much of a difference .2 would be though. Its going to be autocrossed and dragged a bit, so something that spools me up quick but is still streetable would be good.

There was a few ppl on here that exploded a stock ford case. a daytona pinion support will help, but if you are going to drag race i would upgrade to a strange or moser case.

I have a 31 spline Trac-Loc. I do have the billet cover... get it! Other than that and a Daytona support hammer away! Nodular iron center is most sought after but you can get different options.

yea, the stock cast case is pretty weak for what it is. still stronger than any 10 bolt, but weak when compared to the nodular iron pig. easy way to tell is look for the big "N" stamped into the case above the pinion support.
