Default keep blowing PS pumps

So my friend recently put 17" C6 wheels on his 98 Z28. He said the only two times he has done a donut with these wheels mounted on there he has blown his power steering pump. He said he used to do donuts on the stock wheels all the time with no problems and this is the only thing that has changed. Any ideas? I think it sounds crazy.

Indeed, this does sound crazy. Wider tires will put more load on the PS system, but not enough to damage the pump.

When you say blown, do you mean leaking out the front seal?

to my understanding it just goes out because he said he has to get another one from oreilly because they have the lifetime warranty and he gets this one for free.

Do a search for turnone power steering pumps. I had this same problem but the turn one pump fix all of that. Before I had went thru 2-3 in a span of a month.
