Click the "nick williams" link in my post, it'll take you to a craigslist posting in IL.

This is the direct url http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/pts/1586198221.html I'm a little skeptical of craigslist as a general rule, but this guy may be close enough for you to meet in person and look before you buy. good luck

Cause they're 80mm compared to stock 75mm, and they can still get ported and polished..but I dont think there will be a huge hp gain...

Why do they say 78mm then instead of 75mm when talking about "stock" tb size Bo? If a tb measures 75mm, wouldnt they call it that or is it like packaged products and you're allowed to be off..say oh, 3mm?

Maybe they are measuring the inside diameter of the actual TB, not just the blade that opens up. I know that "technically", you would only have 75mm of room for air to flow since the blade is only that big and the end of the TB is that size but maybe the opening or front is wider just a tad and thats where their measurments are coming from? Best guess I could think of...

75mm blade and 78mm housing wouldnt work too well below 3000rpm. The housings mic out at around 2.955" or 75.05mm and the blades are 2.950" or 74.93mm which is right were you would want it for good blade to housing clearance. So if anything the average of the two is 75mm.

This thread seems a bit old but I am currently putting an LS6 into my 01' WS6 and was looking for a throttle body off of the 6 liter LQ4 engine as well. The research I have done and according to How to Build High-Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s by Will Handzel says the one from those LQ4's is a cable actuated 80mm throttle body which would be perfect for what I'm doing since it also says the LS6 had an electronic 80mm throttle body so I figured I go grab a 80mm throttle body and MAF from an LQ4 if I could find one for cheap or from a junkyard and I have the air the LS6 was designed to flow without the headache of trying to work an electronic throttle body on my F-Body.

Any thoughts?

I REALLY hate to bump an old thread, but I have the same book mentioned above. Reading it last night, actually, saw the same paragraph, and used the search function on here.

Is there any truth to this?
