Default 6 speed tranny interchangeable?

i am going to be doing a 6.0L 6spd swap into a 3rd gen when i get back from iraq for the 4th damn time...i found a LS3 6 spd online for $1800 new in the box. question is i dont know if its better then the T56 that came in the LS1 cars..and or if the LS3 6spd will bolt up to the 6.0L engine? help!

LS3's would have come from the factory with T6060 6-speeds. Depending on the application, it may not have the shifter/slip-yoke tailhousing setup you're looking for..

at the $3k STICKER PRICE i think i will have to find a beater MN12 or t56 and send it back to tick performance and put the rest of that 1500 into a clutch pack /slave etc..and then have money for tires too...

and after seeing what those trannys cost..i guess i wont bitch about the cost of the moser 12 bolt i have...

LOL, don't shoot the messenger.. Also, Depending on your thirdgen, you may have to deal with the mechanical speedo, you have to source a T56 core, you have to repair anything wrong with that core, then you pay for the "stage2" upgrade parts to get it to the 600hp levels. I don't care either way, just giving all the facts and costs involved may be a push.

hey man its cool i appreciate the info actually... after i sell my formula i wont have T56 anymore... and i dont want to have to pay $1K for a tranny that needs to have another $1500 put into it..and then a clutch pk and slave ...but finding one that is usable for less than a grand is like finding snake nipples...
and my stage 2 from tick performance is good for 750 hp/tq
