Default Help me spend my money...lol

Okay, So i've been over one the truck side (PT) for a while now, But i'm looking to go another route now. I just bought a house and got a nice two car garage. I'm wanting to get F body or a gto with the m6. I've been racking my brain on which one to choose for about a month now. Well income tax is about to come in and ready to get a car. Which one would you choose? Camaro, Firebird, 04 GTO , or 05,06 GTO. I know they all have their flaws and advantages but if you had some extra cash and wanted something nice in the garage for the weekends but eventually mod to run 11-12's, which would you choose?

It is easier to make an F-body fast. Lighter, solid rear axle and you can fit a bigger tire. If you care about interior quality, ride, room or comfort consider the GTO......

I would rule out 04 GTO IMO b/c of just having the LS1 as opposed to the 05/06 getting the LS2...50 more HP.

C5 vette outta the equation?

I love my M6 lol.
But Auto is better for drag racing (i.e. consistent times/mph)

I chose the M6 for the fun factor, gets boring just letting the car do all the work IMO. As far as the track, I just want the car capable of running 12's. The car will mostly be used for trips, It will not see very much track time.

For the performance you're looking to get I'd go for an 05/06 GTO. The interior is much nicer than the fbody's and I like them more for roadtrips, etc. Bit more luxury in them. If you were looking to shoot for 10's or faster then I'd say fbody, as the solid rear and lighter weight will be more user friendly.

Let us know what you decide!

So, I've been looking around and came across An 05 red GTO m6 black leather with 45k on it for 17,900. Also fount a 00 White Z28 a4 saddle interior, ttops, 97k on it 7800. And one more, A 04 Gto red m6 black leather 67k on it for 15,000. Any suggestions? I mean for what the 05 cost, I fount a Yellow C5 for the same price...lol

I'll sell you my car for a good price. I have over $20,000.00 invested in her and lots of folks on this site can vouch for her. The car is a 2002 Camaro Z28 with leather, power seats. 43,000 miles on the clock. It's a H/C/I A4 car with a built tranny, Strange 12-bolt with 4.11 gears. Allan Futral did all the engine work. It has a PTC 4400rpm stall in the tranny. The car never really did see a lot of track time but did go 10.90@123mph on the motor. It's got the best of the best of all parts on it for durability as well as power. You can save tones of cash by not building your own and buying this one. You pay half the fuel cost and I will trailer it to you to look at or even buy.

Here is a list of all the mods that are on the car. If you like you can go price some of this stuff and you will find out that the car is a steal. The problem with me is I don't really drive it anymore.

2002 Z28 Camaro A4 with Trickflow 215cc heads milled to 62cc, Harland sharp shaft roller rockers 1.7 ratio, 232/236-647/612-114LSA cam, FMS chrome-moly hardened 5/16" push rods 7.500", ARP hex head bolts, FMS ported oil pump, LS6-2 timing chain, 30lb SVO injectors, SLP 85mm MAF, SLP Lid, K&N drop in, Hooker longtubes, custom true duals with Magna pack mufflers, PTC 4400 Stall converter, built 4L60E, Strange 12bolt with 4.11 gears, Billet Specialties light weight rims 15X10 in the rear and 15X3.5 in the front, 28" tall Hoosiers in the rear, ported fast 90mm, NW TB, Custom Racetronix / Walbro 255 pump and dyno tuned by Allan Futral.

for the price you're going to spend on a gto i would much rather have a c5 z06 but that's just me... out of the options you listed i would get either a trans am or camaro and it will be very easy to get one of those into the 12s... most bolt on cars with decent suspension are easily capable of that... if you factor in the price of a stock f body plus the mods you will still be considerably less than if you buy a gto
