are you guys allowed to use the trans am name? That's a good question, I believe that even Pontiac had to pay the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America, the sanctioning body the has run the Trans Am race series since the '60s) to use the name.
They could be a little crafty and mix it up a bit too, name it Tranz Am instead or something. :D ;)

Thay cant use the font, pontiac arrowhead, or any other trademark. I asked and they said they could have purchased rights but the cost would be like $15,000 more per car

Its the closest thing we'll ever have again. A Firebird right from the factory is nothing more than a camaro afterthought, the same car with different body panels. So why is this so different? Because GM didnt build it? Gearhead did the same thing GM would have done, just behind different doors. But i bet if GM built it, you couldnt get a twin turbo LS9.

so will this be legally titled a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am?

if not, it's not a trans am imo.

Wow, pretty killer looking. I love the rear side exhaust and the front bumper is above all others I have seen.

You guys are sad. You'll do anything to get a firebird back, even throw a terrible looking body kit on a Camaro and claim it's a firebird. You guys sound like a bunch of ricers putting body kits on 240's claiming they are Silvias.

I agree, its just a camaro with a cheap ugly body kit tossed on it and called "Trans Am"....as said above GM had to pay to use the name so even if this company is making it I bet its dam expensive and not worth it. The FIREBIRD car is dead and should be left that way as its a Pontiac not a dressed up Camaro.

Yea just like everyone else out there. You can argue all day but in the end i think its cool, and it will be unique. Some will drool, some will call poser. Oh well. To each his own.

I'm a pontiac fan therefore cool but I just can't imagine having a wannabe ta. It's too bad gm has killed pontiac and not chevy instead I can't think of one chev that I would go buy except a camaro and their really HOLDEN's anyways.

Is there really any difference between a TT forged ls3 and a TT ls9? Why not just offer a base ls3 and a forged TT ls3?

Im a big trans am fan and it dosent bother me that gm didnt make this trans am. technically its not a trans am but it'll do for now. price wise, how could u complain when ur making around the same horsepower as the vette? compare the prices, with this u get more bang for bucks. i dont understand y wouldnt trans am lovers appreciate this, is it because of technicalities? :chug: now lets test drive this monster. i cant wait to see numbers from one these

If you put an SS hood and rear spoiler on a 98-02 z28 does it make it a Camaro SS? Lot's of threads have been started here claiming that if that's all that SLP did, why can't you and call/badge it an SS.

Fact is, this is a Camaro Trans Am. If GM or Pontiac didn't design it, then it's not a Pontiact Firebird TransAm. Who are they to claim what a 5th gen Trans Am would look like?

Exactly right and thats why it will be nothing more than a kit car...same catagory as the fiero to lambo mod and should be titled as such

Fiero to lambo=2010 camaro to 2010 "kit car"........ not the exact comparison but i get it.

I dont think they were trying to claim the looks of 5th gen trans am but would it be better if it didnt exist at all? Im jus saying i appreciate the idea of having one.

All Trans Am's/Firebird's/Firehawk's have the Camaro platform which itself was derived from that old Chevy II. Not really sure that GM did much to update the platform itself across the year's, or if they just changed the name of the platform to F-Body at some point.
