rear gear info
Hey guys I am at a point where I am thinking of swapping my 3.23's out but am not sure if I should go with a 3.42 or a 3.73 in my A4 I have seen alot of people on here say they have an A4 car with 3.42's and alot with 3.73 also I am worried how many more mpg's I will lose with the 3.73 over the 3.42. I can assume i will notice a big difference with the 3.73 but i was wondering if anyone here can fill me in on what they gained with going from the 3.23's to 3.42's in a A4 car and if I should just bypass the 3.42's thanks

go with the 3.73 its not worth it going from a 3.23 to a 3.42. and the mpg difference isnt that big i went from 22 mpg with 2.73's to about 19-20mpg with 3.73's and only lost 5-10 mph at the same rmp's. plus 3.73's are alot more fun than 3.42's.

4.56s' A4 here. 7 trips tp florida w 3.23s' gave me 24.5mpg,3 trips to florida w 4.56s' are giving me 21.5mpg.Based on that,4.10s' would have been giving me 23.5mpg and 3.73s' would have been 22.5mpg
Freeway legal speed cruise control rpm is 2900 with 4.56s'.
Go with the 3.73s'.

if u dont have major mods u can get a handheld to tune for the gears. and for lca's i believe i have bmr non'adj tubular and they have worked great also look in to the relocation brackets they arent too expensive and help out.
