Richmond Carrier swap question
I have an opportunity to buy a whole Richmond Posi rear differential carrier (3.73's) with pinion gear for a good deal. its brand new and is suppose to be for a 10 bolt/7.5 inch GM axle. I have 2.73 gears in it now.
my question is would this new carrier would swap right in with no other modifications?
I am concerned about getting it installed and it not being the right carrier. what can I look for to make sure its right? I measured it and its definitely a 7.5 inch carrier

7.5 refers to gear size also.7.5 carriers also had 26 spline spiders(S10 truck vintage).A BIG assumption here:you're getting a 'richmond' carrier with 3.73 gear attached and the matching pinion. It would have to be totally 'setup'-pinion depth and lash. There doesn't seem to be enough specifics/data/info in your question about your car and the parts you want to get.

Yeah, you need one for 28 spline axles. Also, he's right. Gears and backlash have to be completely set-up from scratch.....Not a big deal, but not something you get good at overnight either.
