OIL sending unit.....how do you remove that sucker..........
I have the intake off and its right there. I don't have a socket long enough to slide over the top and still reach the nut on the bottom.
Do I need to spin that silver nut portion of it near the bottom of the sensor? I wanted to ask because I keep hearing how easily these things break. I want to clean it, it has to be dirty after 12 years. Oil pressure needle has been a little jerky lately and acting wierd.
Also, the MAP sensor is the on the back of the intake, right? Is there another name for it, parts stores can't find it when I tell them MAP sensor. Might as well change that thing too while I'm in there.

Oil pressure senders take a special socket, and it's not used for anything else on the whole car. Any parts store will have it.
MAP problem is the lack of intelligent life where ever you're going. Try a real parts guy at NAPA.

I bought the "special socket" from napa for the oil sending unit and it didn't work for me. Ended up breaking the sensor off and using an 1 1/16 socket to remove what was left. It's a 50$ sensor maybe you can find an 1 1/16 deep socket that is long enough. The new sensor is a different size, can't remember what tho.

I have pulled at least 50 oil pressure senders off using the special socket(you can get it at any parts store or snap-on guy) and never have one break. but if it were me and it were 12 years old I would just replace it any ways.
and you could also ask the parts guy to look up manifold absolute pressure sensor(MAP) maybe they have it cataloged under that.

^^ if you ran your engine with 0psi oil pressure for more than 30sec, you would have major problems. So unless your engine sounds like its about to explode, your OPSU is defintly faulty

I'll get a new OPSU tomorrow and toss it in. My stepfather has an open-end 1-1/16" wrench that should go right over the top of the OPSU.
Thanks.

My intake is still off, gonna clean it tomorrow, put the new camshaft sensor and OPSU sensor in and start it up. If its not missing anymore my problem was a bad camshaft sensor.
What I was saying earlier was that I didn't have the symptoms of a bad MAP sensor so I'm sure its fine, I just cleaned it out since its off the engine.
