Lid delete Ok I hate ******* with these lids that just wont seal right or sit in there spot the way they should, So I was wondering has anyone used like a large cone shaped filter in replacement and how you got it to fit. I searched around but just cant seem to find what im looking for.

^ If you can get it to look just as good and have good quality, then by all means go for it. Start with the filter, then you can prolly get the rad cover made at a local metal shop with your dimensions.
Found this one on google that traced back to here.. I've seen one in person a while ago and thought it looked AWESOME! I want one eventually.

^ Yeah.. It may need a bigger tube.. Wondering about the flow of these compared to a good lid.. or an 85mm lid... There's also a tang on the front of the sheet metal to hold the filter in place.. Check the links again..

Well this is for my H/C/I car and I have a fast 92 with a NW 92MM TB so I do need good flow, But i have 2 SLP lids and i just cant get them to fit the way i want with the smooth bellows being as stiff as they are.

solution = ditch the smooth bellows
or maybe poly or solid motor mounts would keep the lid in place. i know mine seals fine, but i have the stock bellow and polymounts

Find a better bellow and keep your lid. Thats the cheaper solution for you. I think chrs1313 found a bellow that had a slight bend which works better. I have a similar problem but mine is a little too short lol

replace your motor mounts and the lid stays sealed, the smooth bellow doesn't pop it off. what happens when your motor mounts are bad each time your engine revs up your engine wants to move left to right and if you don't have good mounts anymore it moves everything in front IE the lid, maf and bellows and in some cases your transmission a little. if you have a smooth bellow don't get rid of it thinking it will fix your problem.

i thought the whole purpose of the filter was to capture crap from going in your engine???? with that filter does it actually work great like the stock set-up does? in that picture it looks like the air intake itself is blocking the frame where air comes up, so unless you have an Ultra-Z hood or a T/A i wouldn't think you'd get the same airflow as stock, in my mind you'd get less if you have a Camaro because our air comes from underneath or like myself if you have an SS hood you get it from the hood also.
