Western Members - Worried my car is going to get stolen...

So as some of you might remember, about 3 months ago I posted pictures of some kids footprints all over the top of my car.

Well.... Apartment life just seems to get better and better...

Before work this morning I got in the car to let it warm up for a while before taking off, and while sitting in it I noticed something on the back windshield... I get out and go look and some punk kid put some skater sticker on it... While i'm out, taking off the sticker, I notice the neighbors on their back porch where I park my car in front of. Very nice older couple, said they'd keep an eye on it and didn't mind me parking there at all (my complex has limited parking so I have to park the car pretty far away from my apartment :bang:)... Well I get home after work today, go park in the same spot and the lady was outside and got my attention.

She told me her son saw a guy taking a ton of pictures of it the other day and was getting up to the window taking photos of the interior and such... sounded like he was scouting it out... Besides that, I guess they see all these punk teenagers and a group of gangbangers always checking it out...

I dunno what to do... it has LoJack, and I'm gonna "UP" the insurance on it tonight. But besides locking the doors and telling the apartment management :eyes: about it, there's not much else I can do...

I'm just waiting for it to be driven off..... :(

Time to move! I like the kill switch idea though or take the relay with you, its easy to disable a car but a PIA and you should not have to worry about it.

That sucks. You're car looks sweet too.

I know a guy who had a totally custom Ram 2500, and some ass hole tried to steal it and couldn't get it started, so they just ruined everything. Stabbed holes in all of the seats and dash, and cut a ton of wires under the hood. Ended up doing over $20k in damage. Making it so it doesn't run might make them do something like that...but then again, it might not.

I'd try and park it someplace else. It also could have been someone like me. If I saw a sweet F-body I would go up and take pictures too.

if it has lojack you should be good.Pull a plug wire when u leave it unattended.do you have an alarm on it? if you have a sound system make sure nothing is at plain sight and make sure you have wheel locks on your rims.If only you could set up a camera inside or outside your car....

I would do something to disable it. Kill switch is a good idea. Isn't there an ignition fuse you can pull until you get a switch installed.

Also, I would give that old couple a disposable camera and ask them to take pictures of anyone getting near it in the future.

Now that you and your girlfriend are both working, I would start looking at a house to rent. You need to get out of there. Also, if you need to hide it out for a while you can park it at my house. I'm on an acre of land and you can even park it in my back yard... :secret2:

I would defenatly call the cops and say that you had seen some thugs scooping out your car and other cars around the area. tell them that you're afraid that they're going to vandalise or break into them.Make sure you will tell them what the couple said about the pics. they should then patrol the area that night. might scare the kids away. I have a car cover a rarely use. you can borrow it till things calm down if you want.

I normally unplug my coil packs if I'm public and/or pull the starter and fuel relays. Get one of those gps trackers or just get a hoopty and park in a garage. At my first apartment I used to rent a storage unit next door in public storage and park the hoopty outside. Took a couple windows/stereos to figure that out. 150 a month and always stayed clean for me on the weekend :D good luck otherwise man!

I like all the ideas. But let's face it, we can't keep 24hr surveilance on our cars. I used to pull both the ignition relay and fuel pump relay from under the hood, but in an apartment complex the likely situation is that they will tow it away.

Nobody really questions a tow truck.....could be a repo, could be an illegally parked car. People just don't pay as much attention to tow trucks.

I usually keep the wheels turned all the away in case someone tries to tow my car, they will take up 2 lanes on the street while pulling it. That way it'll hopefully catch a cops attention on the street.

Only thing you can do is prepare yourself with good insurance and hope they will cover all the mods.

Flatbed is unlikely in an apartment complex. You normally don't have enough space to manuever in the parking lot and it takes too long to chain up, pull, and strap down.

Most wanna get in and get out quick. It'll definitely be a regular tow truck.

Just my opinion...you need to move outta there man. Like it was mentioned earlier, most important thing is to make sure they don't get away with ur car. But if they can't, and get pissed and just phuk ur car up, that alone could make ur claim a total loss. It sucks that we can't just park our cars somewhere without worrying about some loser piece of sh*t messing with it. But, that's sometimes the reality of owning a nice car. Even if you mounted a set of hidden cameras in the interior somewhere, and sent the images to a remote recording device via an IR signal, you still have to hope someone will recognize the thieves in the video in order to obtain an arrest.

Oh and PIZDETS the car is paid-off, has been for a while now, so my biggest loss would be my mods I would think... GEICO is already raping me with their rates, it's ridiculous. Car cover.

It won't stop the car from getting stolen, but it will make it a PITA. Either tuck the sides of cover into the door jams or use lock across bottom (or both).

And like everyone else says, move.

Unfortunatly Sarah is driving the truck until I get the car registered in Texas. Good luck though man. Seriously. I know if you had a choice you'd be out of that place in a heartbeat. Thats the Relay.. Better to pull that than the fuse. You can close a fuse circuit with just about anything... Paper clips, foil, piece of wire, etc. The relays are much harder to close up unless you actually have another relay.

Good luck with it... I think I might wire my new alarm in both my car and truck with a train horn instead of the siren. Dont want it for the horn, but I would use it as an alarm siren for sure!

Invest in a GPS. A lot of insurance companies will give a discount for it and if it DOES get stolen you can get rid of the fuckers who did it and make them pay for anything that's happened to it (Or something you did and don't want to pay for >:D)

FUCK Geico and call Progressive...

GET A GPS or better yet an alarm that pages you. No use finding the car an hour later just to find it is stripped...

Anywhere to put a camera? They're around $100 now...

Pager is best though so you know immediately. You have a gun right?

DEFINITELY at least add a car cover THAT YOU TIE ON. Time is their enemy so anything you can do so that it takes them more time the better chance you have of keeping your shit.

You can cover your front window with a sunshade so no one can see inside your car. You duck down in the back seat (i know it tiny) and when someone walks up to you car and opens the door you say " hi you like my car? Then you'll love my Glock." :guns: You just have to make sure they open the door first. I don't go to Miami or roadtirps without one of my glocks.

Because our cars are RWD, back it into the parking spot so it's harder to tow. Also with the front end being visible, the jacker's have a better change of being seen. Oh, if you have an A4, check this out: http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product.asp?pf_id=719068&dept_id=1597
If you like to park nose in, park with the tires turned and club it. Can't tow if the tires are turned w/o hitting another car and the club may take just a tad bit longer. Hope this 411 helps.

Wes, honestly man I have run into the same situation from time to time when out with my car.

Here's what I do, I pop the hood and pull the connection to the MAF and TPS, if they want it they'll have to tow it. If they want to tow it, they better have a flatbed or them fireworks will cause someone to notice what is going on. If you have a flatbed you better have something to raise it up to clear. It ain't low rider low, but it ain't 4x4 stock.

You could pull the fuel fuse as other said, pulling a plug wire is also an idea, but the MAF and TPS is easier.

I like the kill switch idea, I even knew a guy back when I had my Honda that put a special key setup as a kill switch. The thing look like a coke machine lock, worked like a charm. I had a kill switch on my bike and my turbo'd Honda I would pull the distribution and other plugs around the engine bay. That damn Honda was the worse car to own with all the thieves in this town. I couldn't go to the track without people checking the door handles, taking pictures. Then going to the mall was a blast, I'd come out to coat hangers stuck in the window, so I had to disable the electric locks to avoid them getting into the car.

Good luck man, if you really want to be safe, sell all the mods to me and I'll make sure they are well taken care of............ I know what a nice guy!
