Whats the proper way to adjust shift points?
I need to change my shift points for the new cam, TSP 231/237 .598/.595 @ 112. I am wanting to rasie the shifts, now its 6500rpm and 1-2 @ 37mph, 2-3 @ 76mph, 3-4 @ 125mph. I am not sure what its shifting at, the rpm or speed, but want to try letting it pull longer. I havent hit the rev limiter NA or on Spray.
I was thinking raise the limiter to 7200
raise the shifts to 6800rpm
raise mph to 41/81/128
Go I get more mph than that or no?
Thanks,
Charlie.

I keep the mph below what i know the car will be shifting at so that it will shift off of the RPM. Both perameters have to be met for the car to shift. I dont know if it harms the performance to have the MPH set alot below the actual shift point. I dont know if that helps or not. i shouldnt post at 4am after 12hr shifts LOL

Thanks Ray... the wording sometimes gets me. In the predator, I was told to set it so both were where I wanted the shifts. So I did, set mph guessed, and then RPM. Man I tell you I hit the revlimiter so hard, and stayed on it.
I will raise the RPM for shift, leave mph, maybe raise it one or two, then change the rev limiter as well, make that around 7200.

Ya i smacked the rev limiter hard when i first started playing around. thought i blew the engine I thought it shifted when either the rpm or the mph so i set the MPH high and BAM. now i set the mph low and let the rpm limit do the shifting. If i ever get rid of these 2.73 gears ill have to refigure everthing.

It was easier using predator. oh well, edit is cool as well. hopefully I learned the mph low and rpm where I want the shift......hate to test it out with some giggle.

I would set the rpm up 100rpm at a time till you hit the rev limiter, then back off. Also if you want the shift point at 6800,set the rev limiter at 6900 when setting it up.
I run the cars on the street with good tires, slicks if need be to get the traction needed .It's almost impossible to do on street tires..
