Default American Racing Headers

I had a good experience with ARH today, and just wanted to let y'all know. I really was sold on QTP, but found they are not in production. I called ARH this morning and should be seeing the headers and y pipe pretty quick. I am planning on a Mufflex 3 1/2" with a spintech and single out. The car had Pacesetter LT and TSP duals with Bullets. It was LOUD!!! Too loud really. The car has QA1 coil over kit and sits low. The Pacesetters and Bullets hit a lot. I am hoping this will give me a less obnoxious sound, and more clearance.

I just finished putting the 1-7/8s on today actually. The praise they get for fitament is not over exaggerated - they slid in perfectly and fit like a glove. No interference issues. Easier to get in then my old 1-3/4 TTS headers were.

Sweet. The car is currently w/out engine, tranny, and k member. When I dropped the power plant I left the headers on, and was planning on reinstalling the same way. Anyone have any views on this?

Good choice on the ARH. Top quality headers. I would advice against the spintech..they suck as far as performance goes. I personally dont like their sound either. I always think of them as a flowmaster but available in stainless steel.

Interesting, and thank you for your opinion. I may still go that route, but will do some more research. Do you have a favorite?

On my setup I am using American Racing 2" headers that have 3.5" collectors, their y-pipe(which has a realy nice merge) and a 4" Magnaflow straight through muffler. Flows good enough for my setup.

Are you having it dumped before the axle or going all the way out the back in the stock location?

I want it out the back, past the axle. The previous set up was dumped in front of the axle, and I just didn't like the cabin noise. I liked the sound of it... man, it sounded like a dragster or nascar. With 375 horses to the wheels, it just couldn't "back it up". I guess what I'm looking for is a nice deep tone, little to no rasp, and not so much cabin noise. A close friend of mine recommends the spintech, and if the performance suffers, would a cut-out help for those times the loud doesn't matter?

I have the ARH's with ORY and the SLP dual-dual with small cam, getting close to 400 RWHP with the setup and is not loud at all. The ARH's are the best fitting set of headers I have ever installed, good pick!

Is the borla a production catback, or custom fab'd?

That is true! Though, in my defense, I live in Fort Worth which is commonly referred to as ftw. I think I was fixated on that...

I just installed ARH 1 7/8, with a Catted 3" y-pipe, and the fitment and build quality was perfect, I couldn't find a single thing I would change.

I guess you would call it a production catback, it's made by Borla, stainless steel, it's not cheap, around $800 but it has a million mile warrenty.

I found it, though all were over a grand. I'm not certain why I have no quams dropping more than that for the headers and y, but feel skitish on the catback... Maybe if I could hear one. I'll post in Tx forum, maybe there is someone local.
