I called around today and asked how much it would be to tint the back windos of my trans am and the guy wanted $200 !!!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> Does this sound outrangeous to you guys ? What should it go for ?

got mine done for about $80 with a lifetime gurantee. Make sure you get it done in a single piece because if they have to cut it and use multiple piece it usually seperates and shows a seam down the back window. Most shops should do it in one piece for around $100 with a good gurantee on it.

i have my windows tinted... but the back looks bad because of the little dots at the top... i heard someone say that that can be fixerd by applying some vinyl over it. but i dont want to stick a big piece of black vinyl on the outside of my car.

anyone know how to fix that?

Ok thanks guys, I just had mine done for $120. They used formula one tinting (one of the best) which has a life-time guarantee for no discoloration, no bubbles, etc. You even get a warranty card with your vin number on it. I just have to wait for the bubbles <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> at the top to dry (according to the guy it takes 24-48 hours)----> It better dry because it has little holes at the top. However, I hear that happens for the 1st 2 days.

I just noticed, (maybe you guys have too)that the tint is a different color from the factory gm seal/shade that goes around the back window (hope you guys know what i'm talkin bout). HAs anyone had their tint actually match that greyish black color. Because right now on mine, i have my black tinted window in the back but it looks kind of weird because there is a grey seal (GM) around the window.

a grey seal? hmmm... could you describe where that is exactly?

Also for the person that mentioned it being better if the back piece was in one piece... I thought that its better to have multiple (2 or 3) since the rear defrogger has to breathe (for a lack of a better word)...

By the seal I meant the black 2inch wide line that goes on the outskirts of the window. You can't see it from the inside but from the outside its right on the edge of the window and it goes around it. Its kind of like the uv tint you have on the top front windshields of cars except that the Trans am has it on the back as well and goes around the edge of the window.

The dots at the top of the window are called dot matrix.The only true way to get rid of it that I have seen is to mask off the bottom of the back glass and flat black the top of the glass where the matrix is.Then over lap the tint about 3/8" over the paint.It looks great.A good friend of mine went to window tinting school and that is what they showed him to do.It shouldnt be anymore than $100.00 to do that back glass it isnt but about $10.00 worth of tint.It just takes a little time to 1 piece the back glass.There is a suop here that only charges $125.00 for the whole car here and they are good.That is with a lifetime guarantee.If you really want it to look good get a solid piece of 35% on the whole front windshield.

You shouldn't pay more than $160 to get the back and the sides tinted.

Two of my friends as well as me had the problem with the dot matrix at the top of the rear windshield. We all took it back to the shop, they cut the tint just below the dot matrix and took it off and then put black tape/vinyl over the dots. It looks really clean when it is done. The guy at the shop says its a common problem with f-bodies and that it's a two step process, the second step being the tape. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

No it really doesn't. I can bairly notice it in my rear view mirror.
