Hi everyone. My stock lower control arms have been squeeking around lately. Instead of taking them off and greasing them, I'm going to use this as an excuse to replace them I've been searching around and it seems that everyone has good things to say about the LG poly/rod LCAs so I'm seriously considering those. I'm concerned about them making noise though. Some people seem to have them make all kinds of noise while others claim they are dead silent. Are they going to be making noise when I put them on? I'm really picky and any sort of squeek will drive me crazy. If they're going to make my car sound like a rickety POS then I'd rather go with something else. This car is my daily driver and sees the track once every month or two during track season. Any input is appreciated! Thanks in advance

Maybe you should just stick to stock LCAs, then.

If you are looking for guarentees, that would be the best avenue.

Thanks for the reply. Ok, maybe I should rephrase that. I understand that aftermarket parts are not going to work like they're from the factory. Hehe, if I was THAT picky I wouldn't have bought an f-body (too many squeeks and rattles ) I just want to make sure these things aren't going to be squeeking everytime I go over a bump or something. The main reason I'm starting a thread for this is because people seemed to have greatly different expereinces with these making noise in the threads I came across in my searches. Some claim they squeek like all hell and others say they're just as quiet as stock. Thanks again

I went for a ride in a 01 Camaro that had Spohn LCA's with the rod ends one side and poly on the other side. Quiet as my poly/poly LCA's, I was impressed plus there would less binding. I was thinking about getting some like that.

My LGM poly/rod LCAs are as quiet as stock.

But, I keep them clean and lubed

I didnt have good luck with my poly/rod LCAs, too much noise for me... I dont know if I should put the effort into getting some $50/ea QA1 rod ends to see if they get quieter or not, but if you are as picky as I am about little noises and harsher rides, I would have to say sticking to rubber would be the best bet. Poly/Poly is just a bind-fest not suited best for handling, rubber is less binding than poly, but doesnt give you a stiff, positive feel, and rod/rod is bind free with loads of noise transfer from the tires to the car. Damned if ya do... damned if ya dont.

i have our ESP rod end lca on my car and they do transfer the noise

but cured my gear breaking wheel hop so i guess its the price you pay/sacrifice whe you start to make power and make it stick

I JUST got done installing BMR tubular chrome-moly LCA's, poly/rubber. Haven't tested them out yet but the grease fittings should make it sooo much easier to keep them quiet. You don't even have to jack up the car to get to them. Now I have to figure out how to get my sway bar to stop squeaking...

Hey, thanks for the input so far guys! So I guess I'll be calling LG tomorrow I'm wondering though, what kind of noise do they add? Is it just road noise or do they actually squeek. Road noise I don't care about...Its the damn squeeks and squaks and rattles that bother me. Thanks again!

Go with a set of controls arms with rubber bushings at the body and poly at the axle. The rubber will provide a little extra noise reduction.

Rod ends will transfer noise...

I'm curious as to why you would even bother changing the LCA at all?

Any stiffness supposedly gained by the poly bushing is negated by the rubber bushing on the opposite end.

I have the G2s, with a heim at the axle and poly at the chassis. They were quiet after installation for a while, but after two track events (5 days, total about 8 hours), they now make a rattling noise. No squeaks ever, though. It is most evident at low speeds on tiny cracks, or with typical secondary road imperfections. There is no noise at highway speeds or on smooth surfaces. They are tight and lubed so I am not sure what is causing it, but I am a little disappointed. I haven't dropped them to really get into it yet, but I do want it to go away.

Umm, your kidding right?

The rubber bushing in most aftermarket control arms flexs very little in comparision with the stock arms rubber bushings.

Bingo. I was told by LG that they were for racing, and thats how they are. I do not recommend them on daily drivers.
