Default 98 z28 wants to die at 4k rpms!?

Okay so i am buying this car for 4 grand whether it needs a maf sensor or O2 sensors im not sure? I can drive it normally with no problems but as soon as i punch it at abotu 4,000 rpms it wats to just stop... It hesitates so bad... I talked to the guy and he says it throws codes for O2 sensors and Maf sensor and evap system... What are the chances that it is just an O2 sensor or two or even the Maf and how can i know for sure? Any help is appreciated here guys! Thank you!

unplug the MAF and test drive it, see if it acts any different. If it's throwing codes for both, both could likely be bad... if the front o2's are messed up, it will likely have an effect on how it runs. If they are the rear ones, then that likely just means the cats are messed up. Clogged cats could be causing the issue. I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts. 4 grand seems like a good deal if you can get it fixed yourself on the cheap. Good luck

My car would fall on its face at 4000rpms, and it was my Crankshaft Position sensor.. One of the pigtails was loose

Okay so i bought the car, it was well worth the $4K looking at it now... It has a BAD misfire but its all on one side... Cylinder 2, 4, 6, and 8 are all misfiring randomly... So i have it narrowed to one side so im pretty sure its an ignition or vacuum problem so any ideas? I will be tearing into it tomorrow!

The codes are: p0102 (MAF), p0131, p0137, p0151, p0154, p0155, p0157, p0300 (random misfire), p1153, and finally p0174 (system too lean, bank 2). The rest are all O2 sensor codes.

I'd still look at the MAF. The Maf controls all fueling past 4k. I had almost the same pronblem with my car. After checking fuel pressure and a couple of other things I found a little piece of foam from sealing my lid stuck to one of the MAF wires. Took it off and the car was back to perfect, good thing it got stuck there and didn't go all the way through.

Okay so i worked on the car all day today just trying to make it stop missing... Turns out a change of spark plugs should have been my starting point... Now i changed them all except cylinder 8 (for obvious reasons) and drove it for about an hour with no light. I then changed plug #8 and drove four blocks and the light came on, so i stopped an ran the code, it was a bank 2 number 1 O2 sensor high voltage i believe and its missing again... Could it be something major or do you think i just missed a coil? Also i noticed quite a power loss... I think my lt1 could pull me right now... I mean it could just be me but im pretty sure the car is slow for an Ls1.. Any ideas?

Only mod is a true dual setup/gutted cats... (dumb i know...)
