I see your from dubberly. I lived in minden pretty much all my life. I moved 2yrs ago. Hardly ever saw an fbody when I lived there. Now it seems there's more now that I've gone. Pretty much mustang country over there though so the weekends was always fun

Yeah I just got it not too long ago I'm ready see what it will do. I just found out yesterday I gotta be in Dallas in the 6th so I'm not sure if I'm gonna make it to the track. But I will for sure be there the following weekend

You don't need a car to support the track, sure we all like to make those passes. We need fans in the stands to keep Thunder Road alive. If your car isn't ready to run get together with friends come out and have a good time. "Keep Drag racing alive in the Ark La Tex"

Cody, Steve and I talked today about grilling while we're there. Cody's covering the grill and charcoal, I'm bringing meat and buns. Steve is bringing mustard, and hopefully an onion.

Anybody want in on this?

Count the old man in, I was talking to Steve yesterday and told him I wasn't sure how they are doing the parking this year spectator parking may be outside the gate. I don't know. Gates open at 5 pm, track at 6pm on friday TnT, gates open at 1 pm, track at 2 pm on saturday racing. Thunder Road will be racing for a purse starting saturday, but the points don't start til March 20th.

If they think I'm going to park outside in the mud and shit I will not be coming. This will probably be the case for alot of people also.....Why does it always seem that there is some bullshit going on with this track?

01ssreda4
03-03-2010, 11:44 AM
I discussed this concern with Wayne yesterday. You cant park in that field you would get stuck. Hell its a damn pasture. With all this rain they would be foolish to try and pull that shit.

I agree that Friday is going to determine how often I return. In my mind's eye, I can see our cars/trucks lined up by the fence past the beer garden, cooking burgers, hanging out, having a good time etc., often. Hope they don't fuck it up.
Would REALLY piss me off if they said something about grilling, and I'll never park in the mud.

cainsw
03-03-2010, 11:50 PM
Maybe it had something to do with the way the AHRA was treating the would be racers? You know they had 2-3 guys on the TRRP forum bitching about various things so the AHRA made them remove the forum. I know that pissed off a bunch of people. I think I might just sell all my junk and start fishing more! It seems like ever since it opened up in 98 it has been nothing but BS week after week. Damn I miss Hallsville!!

caddobass
03-04-2010, 10:11 AM
Well I e-mailed the track and ask "just what was up and what the plans are?" got a reply that they could not talk about what happened with AHRA at this time andthey are looking for a track manager. So what it looks like to me is another year of a late start of racing, which means all the cars will start points racing at other tracks and we won't get a car count again this year. I just don't understand how they think Thunder Road can exist like this.

Hate to hear it for you Shreveport guys. Prescott Raceway starts TNT this Sat. march 6 12 noon to 5pm 1000 ft track ets on tnt days. Just make sure the rearend is in good shape. I really do hate it for all of yall I have really got spoiled with a nice track just 15 mins from the house. If any of yall what to race up here and have not been to Prescott just let me know.

03-04-2010, 08:31 PM
It is not TRRP causing the issues this time. I was told AHRA has not paid any rent for the 3 months or so that that have had control of the track and they also never produced any proof of insurance and the guys that own TRRP pulled the plug on the AHRA not the other way around like the AHRA makes it sound on their site.

I think i might have to head up to prescott and do some racing instead of waiting and hopeing something happens at TRR. Presocott has always hooked hard and there is not bull shit on if they are open or not, seems i had to call or look online to see if TRR is open before leaving.

Yeah I'm not feeling so bad about selling the 9" anymore knowing we're prolly not gonna have a track much longer. Puttin the a/c back in it, cats, and gonna make it pretty I guess. Still plannin on the new motor though.

Im heading out for prescott at 10:30 any of you that want to go are more than welcome to follow me. If you don't want to go and rather set at home on opening day of racing season and bitch&moan to your wife that you dont have anywhere to go racing it is your own fault! Either way im sure she is smiling on the inside that you don't have a track to race at and you are going to do her errons with her and watch kids all day while she does what she wants :mad:

Those of you who are single have nothing to say.....period!:chuck-bal

This will be our little secret between us......the exuse that prescott is not a full 1/4 mile is not working anymore because you know why???? None of the other tracks around are either since they are shut down :bang: Come on up and try something new or just keep whinning about TRR.

They said they were having water drainage issues. It was draining out onto the track. So we ran 1/8 mile.

StreetStalkerZ
03-28-2010, 06:20 PM
You would figure after almost 11 years of being open and racing they would have enough common sense to dig a trench down the side of the track to allow the water to drain away from the track instead of being soaked into the track and seeping back up after weight and heat is being put on it :bang:

Alot of people have to know they track has not been ran on in over 6 months and will take a while for it to come around but ya'll keep going and laying rubber down for me in the future :D

Before long the track should be called "Slap a wall raceway" :D

Eleven years for the track two weeks for the staff.
It will get better.

Not the green staff but the owners and managers are to blame but people that run down it until it gets better need to be safe period! It will get better i agree but this problem will not go away until they do some sort of drainage work to allow the water to run off the track. You will see when we get some spring time rain and it holds the track up for a week or two the problem will be back again and you can bet you will be running 1/8 mile when it happens.

Not trying to break their legs before they get running but it's time for the owners to stop looking the other way when this issue comes up because it would be bad to have another fatality on their hands.

Yep I agree Twin City drag was the same way I've seen cars run down the track and water mist fly up behind them

The track was green friday nite and yes there was the age old problem of water weaping at the 1/8 mile. I wasn't there saturday but I heard the track was better with the rubber that was put down friday nite. Scott I did say something to them about digging the track side ditches a couple of feet deeper and someone also said something about drilling deep holes to the sides of the track where we are getting the weaping. Management said they are taking a good look into that problem. I think we may have a real track manager that has what it takes to get things rolling. He was at Hallsville back in the late 70's, here at TRRP (Red River Raceway) when it first started, and with Good Guys Racing for the last 15 years.

dont waste your fucking time!!! Its a fucking joke! Its a mickey mouse operation with idiots who dont know what in the fuck they are doing. No prep no vht no burning nothing! Running one lane 1/8mile last weekend and then eventually that chevy putting it into the wall shoulve been a sign. They shouldve refunded EVERYONES money and called it good. The track announcer even said if you dont feel safe then dont run. Thats just how damn dumb they are. Its went down hill like scott said for the last 11yrs. Waste your time money and gas if you want and go but youll be kicking yourself in the ass and saying damn I shoulve listened to Brian

sat night went much smoother than friday night. Don't jump to conclusions about the track yet, i believe they are really trying to make it nicer. This past sat was only 1/8th mile but everything went very smoothly other than having to scrape a gt500 off the track due to a lca issue... i will go as often as i can it was an enjoyable time!

edit: dont forget friday night was this crews FIRST time ever to run a track of course things were not going to go perfectly...

Any person that went to the track last Friday thinking it was going to be a good night is obviously not a racer. The damn track hasn't had a car make a pass on it in over 6 months. I know it has been a mess almost since day one but that was with other people running it. We should all at least give it a few weeks and give the new crew a chance to get it right before we start crying about it.

Another few weeks of racing and the track should start to get right, atleast on saturday brackets. For those of you that complain about friday night T&Ts lack of runs and lack of prep here is some info for you.

On saturday night bracket events i run NO E and chris can back me up on this.....from a back to back weekend i have went .04-.06 quicker in the 60ft. on saturday bracket events and on some runs have went a tenth fast in the 60ft. I don't get 10 runs in but the 4-6 passes i get are all good runs and nothing to complain about when i pack up,other than i did not win money :D but prescott still out hooks TR hands down.....had to throw that in there :D What im saying if you don't like the track prep on friday night give the bracket programs a try and you might luck up and win some money or give me your money

cainsw
04-02-2010, 11:37 PM
Scott I'll call you tomorrow, for some reason my cel is acting stupid when I try to send a TM. But I agree with you, I have been off over a tenth in the 60 from Friday TnT vs Sat brackets on several different occasions. Prescott will probably alway be a little better 60ft because it's more seasoned;) RRR/TRRP closes every 3-4 months so it is still almost equal to a new track. I remember when it first opened back in 98 it took over a years worth of running before it equaled up to Hallsville. My best pass there on opening night was something in the neighborhood of 14.50 or so with about 2.4 60ft. Then I could go to Hallsville the next night and run in the high 12's pulling high 1.7 60's on stock tires.

Scott, I've been trying to tell the Friday night TnT guys to go give some bracket racing a shot for years now but they won't listen. We are going to start having our bracket races on Friday nights here soon so there will be no excuses for em

Nobody up here has them YET! I might have to give them a try when these M/T dr's wear out.

Chris, friday night brackets would be alright with me and the track prep would be better to satisfy the bracket racers.
